This is a definite recommend for me. I found this book to be well written by an author who has studied his his satire carefully. His style is a nice mix of Vonnegut and Heller, and while I’ve seen others talk about how funny it is I didn’t necessarily think it was a comedy. But sometimes satire is like that for me. Prather offers a compelling story with interesting characters that I wanted to follow to the end and beyond. I finished this in basically two sittings; the pages flew by.My advice though is to not assume anything going into this book, and even after you’ve started it. Nothing is as it seems, and Prather weaves a tale that takes you in surprising directions. Don’t dig in on what you think is happening, just let him take you on a ride. And while the subject matter is serious, and important in our country, the tone is light yet critical. Prather’s wit is on display as he cuts to the bone on the role of certain things in our society. Buy this book, and recommend it to a friend. Read it with an open mind, and enjoy!
